La cohorte CoRIS es una plataforma científica de investigación desde la que se realiza el seguimiento a más de 20.000 personas adultas con VIH en España. Cuenta, además, con el Biobanco de VIH, una estructura que permite almacenar muestras de sangre y de plasma de las personas participantes en la cohorte. La cohorte CoRIS es la estructura que sirve de base para toda la investigación de VIH clínica y básica basada en cohortes, pero también es una herramienta que da apoyo al Sistema de Información sobre nuevos diagnósticos de VIH, coordinado desde la Unidad de Vigilancia de VIH, ITS y Hepatitis B y C del Centro Nacional de Epidemiología. Desde la Unidad de Coordinación de CoRIS llevamos a cabo la actualización anual de la base de datos de CoRIS, y su vinculación con las muestras almacenadas en el Biobanco de VIH, y somos los responsables de la gestión de las solicitudes para la cesión de los datos de CoRIS y las muestras de Biobanco a los investigadores, procesos para los que tenemos la certificación de calidad ISO 9001:2015. Potenciamos la integración y participación de CoRIS en las colaboraciones de cohortes de VIH más importantes a nivel mundial, y colaboramos de forma estrecha con las principales entidades nacionales responsables de dar respuesta a la epidemia del VIH en España. Por último, destacar que desde nuestra unidad lideramos proyectos propios de investigación enmarcados en la Prevención y control de la infección por VIH, sus coinfecciones y comorbilidades.
