General information

Our mission is to improve knowledge of communicable diseases and outbreaks of any etiology. The Unit carries out activities related to the management and operation of databases for surveillance of the National Epidemiological Surveillance Network (RENAVE). The results generated are used by decision-makers in the field of communicable disease prevention and control. We also act as a methodological support unit.

Services

Activities

  • Management of information reporting generated by epidemiological surveillance.
  • Management of electronic platforms that allow the secure reporting, storage, access, and transmission of data between the CNE and the regional governments. The platforms are: SiViEs, the Microbiological Information System, and the Spanish Influenza Surveillance System (SVGE).
  • Coordination of review of case reporting surveys for surveillance protocols and collaboration in the standardization of surveillance protocols.
  • Management of the daily mortality monitoring system (MoMo).
  • Evaluation of the quality of reporting in RENAVE.
  • Coordination of the transmission of data generated by surveillance to various national and international authorities and agencies: MSSSI, INCLASNS, AEMPS, AECOSAN, ECDC, WHO, EFSA, OECD, etc.
  • Coordination of RENAVE's information dissemination strategies related to the surveillance of communicable diseases and epidemic outbreaks of any etiology (BES, ISCIII website).
  • Data analysis and preparation of general reports.
  • The Unit will provide methodological support to the Department's various lines of work and research.
  • Teaching and mentoring activities.
  • Information spreading activities.
