Aims
The CNE conducts research aimed at improving public health, contributing to the prevention and control of diseases and health risks in collaboration with ministries, autonomous communities, and other institutions associated with the National Health System.
Its main objectives are:
- To generate scientific knowledge and epidemiological evidence to understand the distribution and determinants of diseases within the population.
- To strengthen public health surveillance by integrating epidemiological surveillance systems and advanced population data analysis to monitor disease trends and detect emerging risks. This contributes to the functioning of the State Public Health Surveillance Network and to the coordination of epidemiological surveillance in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the autonomous communities, in accordance with the current regulatory framework.
- To support decision-making and the design of public health policies through epidemiological analysis, evaluation of interventions, and scientific-technical advice.
- To train professionals and experts in epidemiology and public health.
