Información adicional

The group dedicates its activities to public health research in the field of diseases for which vaccines are included in the common immunization schedule. To do so, it uses information collected from the National Epidemiological Surveillance Network (RENAVE), information from other systems and registries, and specifically designed studies.

The research lines and projects are developed in collaboration with the National Center for Microbiology (CNM-ISCIII), the Ministry of Health, the Autonomous Communities, the European Centre for the Prevention and Control of Communicable Diseases (ECDC), and other international consortia and research groups working in the field of vaccine-preventable diseases.

The group also conducts collaborative research within CIBERESP, within Group 32, and within the Program for the Prevention, Surveillance, and Control of Communicable Diseases (PREVICET).

Mission

To improve knowledge about communicable diseases prevented by vaccination through epidemiological surveillance and research.

The objective is to provide quality information to evaluate the impact and effectiveness of the vaccination programs included in the Common Childhood Immunization Schedule of the National Health System. Of particular importance is documenting the process of polio eradication and the elimination of measles and rubella in Spain, thus contributing to achieving the goals set by WHO Europe.

The research lines are developed in the field of public health research and study the impact that vaccination programs have on the epidemiology of diseases.
