Nuestro objetivo es mejorar el conocimiento de la progresión de la infección por el VIH en España y describir los patrones de morbilidad y de mortalidad, global y por causas, así como monitorizar el uso de y respuesta a fármacos antirretrovirales. Este grupo colabora con la vigilancia epidemiológica del VIH en la estimación de las diferentes fases del continuo de cuidados y en la prevalencia de resistencias a fármacos antirretrovirales. Estudiamos las desigualdades socio-económicas que afectan a las personas a riesgo y portadoras del VIH mediante la investigación epidemiológica y en salud pública, a fin de proporcionar información de calidad y relevante para el diseño implementación y evaluación de políticas sanitarias.
Esta subunidad es la responsable de la dirección y coordinación científica de la cohorte de la Red de Investigación en Sida (RIS) y del programa de salud pública y prevención del VIH de la RIS y participa activamente en estudios internacionales de cohortes de personas con VIH y en la investigación en poblaciones inmigrantes.
